Actiondesk lets you access, explore and analyze all of your data in one place. It's as easy to use as a spreadsheet, as powerful as a BI tool.
Top priorities on our roadmap:
- Sorting
- Graphs
CollaborationBeing able to create a table with manual inputs, and not only imported dataBetter error management for formulas
January 14, 2021
Dragging a cell to copy 👉
- You can drag a cell to copy it over a range the same way you could in Google Sheets or Excel

Force refresh 🔄 👉
- You can now refresh your raw data manually if at any point you want to make sure you have the latest data.
- You just have to click on the refresh icon at the top right
- You can also use the shortcut on Mac option + 9

👈 Loader in filter by values
- When you import data, it takes us a bit of time to index all of the values of each column
- This means that when opening the filter by values menu, it could be blank
- Now we have a loader there so you know your list of uniques values is coming
Bug fixes 🦟
- The border formatting was not working anymore, it's now fixed.
- The message
error during spreadsheet loading
was appearing very often, we made some fixes to prevent this. - The contextual menu was not disappearing after choosing an option within it, this is now fixed.
- Cutting and pasting a cell or range would lead to unexpected grey formatting, this is now fixed.
- As a collaborator, you couldn't edit the import created by another user from your workspace. This is now fixed.
- The highlighting of table columns when writing formula was not working when the said column had a space in it, now fixed.
- Resizing a column or row where there's a hidden column or row was not working well. now fixed.
Quality of life improvements 🍹
- When formatting numbers to dollars, you now will have no more than 2 decimals. You could previously have many decimals which was frustrating.
- The
average
andcounta
formula can now be used on any range of the spreadsheets (before that, it was only using table columns)
December 29nd, 2020
Big update today:
🤝 Work with your colleagues in Actiondesk
- You can now invite collaborators to Actiondesk
- Head to the profile icon and click on
Invite Collaborators
- Enter the email addresses of your collaborators
- They will then receive an invite to create their account
⚠️ One current limitation is that you cannot invite people who already have an actiondesk account. Two workarrounds:
- If they're okay, we can just delete their account. Shoot us an email and we'll do that for you
- Another workaround is to invite a different email address. If you want to invite
jonathan@actiondesk.io
who already has an account, then send the invite tojonathan+actiondesk@actiondesk.io
Paste value
- You can now copy formulas or others and paste only the value
- To paste value, right click and then paste special / paste value
Renaming sheets at the bottom
- You can now double click on the tab to rename the sheet, just like in google sheets
December 22nd, 2020
🏎 You can now fly through the import menu with your keyboard
- Press enter to enter in any dropdown
- Press tab to go to the next step
- When selecting columns, you can navigate in the list with up and down arrows, and select / unselect a column by pressing space
- Once you're done selecting column, press tab and then enter to proceed with the import
🛠 Manage your data sources 👉
- You can now see the list of all your data sources and delete the ones you don't need anymore
- Press on your profile icon, and then
Manage data sources
to access this menu - Soon, you'll be able to edit them as well
😻 Emoji in folders
- You can now add emojies to your folder
- Open the left menu, hover over the folder, and you'll see the emoji icon appearing, press on it and then select your emoji
🎨 See active sheet and open sheets in the left menu 👉
- You'll have a purple dot on any sheet that's open
- The active sheet (the one you're currently looking at) will also have a purple bar on the left
🐞 Bug fixes
- There was a bug where a
lookup
function written in small letter wouldn't work. Fixed ✅ - There were some issues with Airtable imports where some formulas would return errors and calculations would generally be slow. This is now fixed and the performance has been greatly improved. ✅
- There was a bug where if you clicked on the formula bar when you your cursor on a calculated column, the content of the column would disappear. Fixed ✅
- The import button sometimes didn't work properly. Fixed ✅

- Previously, you could create a table only by importing data from a data source. You can now create a table from scratch and manually fill it
- Right click anywhere and choose
Insert table
- Fill the table with data
- To add a column, just write the title of the column on the right of the headers
- To add a row, just write data in any of the cells right below the table
- Current limitations
- You cannot rename the headers, we'll fix that asap
- You cannot copy and paste data into the table
Bug fixes and improvements 🛠

- Fixed various bugs linked to the Notes columns feature that we released the week before ✅
- Fixed a bug that led to formulas not working when inserting a column. ✅
- Fixed a bug where aggregation formulas were displaying "..." forever if you made a syntax mistake in the column reference. It now returns an ERROR ✅
August 25th, 2020
Notes columns 🗒️
- Previously, you could only add calculated columns
- Now, you can add a column and write text or numbers in it.
- What you write in these columns will always stay associated to the right record, even when you data refreshes
Limitations:
- This won't work for tables created before we shipped the feature, only for new tables
- For it to work, you need to make sure you import the primary key field of your table (generally the
id
for SQL, vid for Hubspot contacts, dealid for Hubspot deals, etc)

Bug fixed and improvements 🛠
- Fixed problem that prevented the editing of SQL query imported tables ✅
- Fixed a bug that led to problems when editing a Hubspot imported table ✅

Copy and paste Unique 🤯👉
We're particularly excited for this feature which saves time and headaches in many cases
- Right click on any cell of a column from an imported table
- Select "Copy Unique"
- Paste your unique values wherever you'd like
This is very helpful when you build a dashboard and want to do a conditional count, sum or average depending on one or several conditions

👈 Include function
We're not going to lie, we're pretty excited about this one too 🤗
- New function:
INCLUDE(substring, string)
- Include returns TRUE if the string contains the substring, FALSE otherwise
- Include can be used in a computed column or in the spreadsheet
Bug fixes & Improvements
- There was a bug where if you opened a sheet with formulas, but didn't open the sheet with the table that these formulas used, the formulas wouldn't compute. This is now fixed ✅
- When entering in a non empty cell and pressing escape, the formula was empty. This is now fixed ✅
- Cut paste a range with empty cells used to paste 0. This is now fixed ✅
- Divided by zero used to return ∞, it now returns ERROR ✅
- If you removed column from an import which was used in a computed column, it would bug your whole import. This is now fixed, the computed column will just return ERROR ✅
- You couldn't select a part of text within a formula with your mouse, this is now fixed ✅
- If you did Cmd + Z (Mac) / Ctrl + Z (Win) after pasting a range, it just removed one cell instead of the whole range. This is now fixed ✅
- Sheets with more than 500 formulas tended to be slow, we did a fix for this and the performance is now similar to an empty sheet ✅
- If you had an import with a filter, and you'd add or update a computed column and make an error, it would crash the sheet. We fixe ✅
- If you were trying to count the number of cells empty in a column of a table where this column is a date (for example: the
date entered
columns in Hubspot deals), it would return systematically 0. This is now fixed ✅
🤖AI experimentation
- This is not in production at the moment but we started playing with the GPT-3 API from OpenAI
- It could power a "Ask me Anything" function, which given a question as an input would give you what you need.
- See example where we ask the population of a list of countries 👉

July 20, 2020
The past 5 weeks have been focused on stability, reliability and bugs fixing
We solved a grand total of 77 bugs in the past 5 weeks 🤯😓💪
Improvements and bug fixed on Hubspot integration 💾
- Fixed bugs which lead to having empty columns with Hubspot with an account with more than 300 properties ✅
- Fixed some issues linked to the import of Hubspot data which led to the import of data to be very slow 🐌(several minutes) for dataset of more than 50,000 records ✅
- Fixed bug which led to formulas not working when Hubspot properties contained special characters such as :, ', or () ✅
- Added Hubspot import: Owners
- This is helpful if you want to lookup the full name or email of a deal or contact owner
Improvements made on the spreadsheet experience 🤓
- Modified the table loader, see screenshot on the right 👉
- Made improvements to the way aggregation calculations are made. Now when you change a parameter, only formulas that depends on this parameter will recalculate instead of all of them previously 🏎
- Fixed a bug: when you were selecting a range with Cmd + shift + arrow (or control + shift + arrow for windows), and part of the range was out of the screen, the screen was not moving. It's now solved. ✅
- Fixed a bug that led to some basic math operations (particularly ratios) to return ERROR ✅
- You can now write formula names in small letters, it will work whereas it previously didn't
- We now automatically close parenthesis if you forget a parenthesis in a formula both in the spreadsheet and in computed columns
- Improved cut paste: There was some issues with the paste of the format that are now fixed
- Fixed bug related to decimal formatting that led to users not being able to remove decimals from a calculation ✅
Improvements made to aggregation formulas 🧮
- Fixed a bug that led to aggregation formulas not calculating unless you opened the sheet with the raw data. ✅
- Fixed many bugs related to aggregation formulas. It happened frequently that some formulas wouldn't return a result unless you refresh the page. It's now not happening again. ✅
Improvements on imports 💪
- Fixed a bug with edit of imports which was not working properly anymore ✅
- Fixed a bug that messed up the order of columns when you edited your import after having added a computed column ✅
- Fixed a bug with led to the sheet not loading when adding a computed column after a filter. ✅
Error management 😓
- If there's a problem with a filter, instead of blocking you, you'll get an error message saying the filter has encountered an unexpected problem. The filter will be removed, and you'll be able to continue working on your data.
- If there'a an error with a computed column, or an aggregation formulas, it will now always return an error and not block you while working on your data.
Better management of null values 0️⃣
- Previously, null values were appearing as zero. They now appear as blank
- You can now do a condition test on null values. If the column "test_column" has some null values in some records, and you add a computed column with the formula
=#test_column=""
, these records will return true. - If you a calculation with null values, they'll be considered as zero. If "test_column" is null, then
=#test_column + 1
will return 1
June 12, 2020
- In the past two weeks, we mainly worked on:
- Solving bugs linked to data imports and formulas
- Putting in place a better infrastructure and tools on our end to solve bugs much faster.

- Tutorial here.

May 18, 2020
🏎 Computed columns
- You can now add a column to your imported tables and write a formula in this table using other columns from the table.
- This formula will automatically apply to all the rows.
- As your table refreshes with new data, the formula will automatically apply to the new rows.
- You can edit just by entering in any cell of the column and changing the formula
- You can delete a computed column by right clicking on any of the cell of the column and choose "Delete column"
- Some use cases
New formulas
- YEAR: returns the year of a specific date
- Ex: YEAR(02/02/2020) will return 2020
- MONTH: returns the month (as a number) of a specific date
- Ex: MONTH(02/02/2020) will return 2

Significant performance improvements 🏎
- There were lags when scrolling down an imported table. You can now easily scroll down thousands of rows without any lag.
- You can import up to 100k records. Loading and computing of aggregation formulas will take 5-10 secs but it will work. We don't guarantee performance, but you can even try 500k rows
- There were lags in the spreadsheet when you had more than 10 aggregation formulas, this has been fixed
Bug fixes & Refinements 🔧
- When scrolling down on a table, you'll now still be able to access the filters
- You now don't have to click on the arrow for filter by condition and filter by values, you can just click on the text
